Ephemera specimen (in high detail): a 1945 photo processing envelope from the Pacific Palisades Drug Co. (which was within a beautiful, land-marked building that was sadly mostly destroyed in the 2025 Palisades fire).
This envelope is an exceptional example of early mid-century printing and it’s overall quality (vs. a lot of what we see in digital attempts to reproduce old-looking materials, graphics, or props). Note, especially, how the quality of print drifts across the layout – with a slightly lighter impression on the left and heavier, bleeding results on the right.
This specimen was preserved in a great quality and includes a number of hand-marked examples of writing & notation.
BONUS: scans of two of the negatives that were found within this envelope. Hogs ‘n sheep!
