Came across this vintage wooden, carved sculpture labelled as a “Kava (Awa) Drinker.” Really enamored with the visual quality of the label that accompanied it (fallen to pieces over the years, but reassembled here for easier reading).
The label reads:
KAVA (Awa) DRINKER
This hand carved work of art, ceremonial in function, was placed at the feet of the king during the most formal kava drinking ritual. Dates back to the days of earliest antiquity. Kava is the traditional Polynesian beverage.
