Type-written Secret Message Bracelet

A red, yellow, and orange woven paper bracelet with the words "Mustard," "Hot Dog," and "Bun" repeatedly written in rows by a typewriter.

I brought my typewriter to an artist’s workshop that explored wearable hidden messages and how various cultures & artists have concealed information within items of decoration & clothing.

The suggested artifact was a SECRET MESSAGE BRACELET, so I typed messages onto paper strips, then wove them into a wearable form.

My particular short message was meant be conceptual & humorous, but this approach could be interesting with longer texts and passages folded & twisted into the bracelet’s pattern.

==TUTORIAL==

I found a YouTube tutorial that uses the same pattern as mine (but there are also a number of different patterns you can try).

The trickiest part may be cutting the strips into consistent widths. Since typewriter platens are shorter then the required length of each strip, I just glued the ends of multiple strips together to get the length I needed. Enjoy!
