Infinite universes, opposite creative directions.
2022 delivered two wildly different journeys across the multiverse, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All at Once exploring infinite realities through entirely different lenses. Both ask what our lives might look like if every possible path existed, but that's where the similarities start to splinter. Doctor Strange embraces blockbuster spectacle, superhero action, and horror-tinged chaos, while Everything Everywhere turns the same high-concept idea into an inventive, deeply personal story about family, identity, and finding meaning in the absurd. Same multiverse, completely different destinations, and a reminder that the biggest ideas aren't always measured by the biggest budget.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Following the multiversal chaos unleashed in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Stephen Strange teams up with America Chavez, a teenager who can travel between universes, to protect her from a powerful entity hunting her abilities. That threat turns out to be Wanda Maximoff, who — corrupted by the dark spellbook known as the Darkhold — is seeking to use America's powers to find a universe where she can be reunited with the children she created during the events of WandaVision. Strange and America are pulled across the multiverse, encountering alternate versions of Strange and a secret organization called the Illuminati, as Wanda's pursuit escalates into an all-out battle for the fate of reality.

Everything Everywhere All at Once
Evelyn Quan Wang, a middle-aged Chinese-American immigrant struggling to keep her failing laundromat afloat amid an IRS audit, a strained marriage, and a difficult relationship with her daughter Joy, discovers she can "verse-jump" to access the skills and memories of parallel-universe versions of herself. She's pulled into a multiversal conflict against Jobu Tupaki, an alternate-universe version of Joy whose fractured mind has made her capable of manipulating reality itself and who has created a reality-destroying "Everything Bagel." As Evelyn gains power by jumping between increasingly absurd universes, she must decide whether to embrace nihilism or find meaning through kindness and connection with her family.
