Gru vs. Blue: who wore villainy better?
2010 was the year audiences rooted for the baddies, with Despicable Me and Megamind both flipping the supervillain script. Each centers on a criminal mastermind whose world domination plans get sidetracked by unexpected attachments—Gru by three adopted daughters, Megamind by an accidental shot at heroism. Despicable Me leans into heartwarming family comedy (and spawned a small yellow empire), while Megamind mixes satire and superhero send-up with DreamWorks flair. Together, they prove that even villains can steal the show—and your heart.
Despicable Me
Supervillain Gru, a man who delights in all things wicked, hatches a plan to steal the moon. Surrounded by an army of little yellow minions and his impenetrable arsenal of weapons and war machines, Gru prepares to vanquish all who stand in his way. However, nothing in his calculations and groundwork has prepared him for his greatest challenge: three adorable orphan girls who want to make him their dad.
